A graduate from Tokyo Design Academy, from the department of interior design. Kotono Nanase worked at an architecture firm then later on moved on to working at a design firm. In 1999 she worked on her first illustration job for a women's fashion magazine and in 2005 she became one of the finalists for CWC's Chance Exhibition. This led to her becoming a part of the CWC agency roster. All her work is done by hand using acrylics and water colors. Fashionable women are a central theme in her work. From time to time her work will slip into curious accessories, plants and patterns. Her commercial are inspired by fashion, cosmetics, women, magazines, advertisements, and monographs.
